Beyond Imagination - Burj Al Arab, Dubai 2008

For the first time in the Middle East there will be an art event in Burj Al Arab where two most acclaimed surrealistic artists join hands and show their magical artworks in joint exhibition. The renowned artists, Daniel Merriam and Tomek Setowski represent a style called "fantastic realism"; only very few artists paints in this unusual and extremely difficult style.
Tomek Setowski immortalizes the enchantment of fairy-tale characters, subaqueous worlds, heavenly cities, ravishing women and mysterious manifestations of his dreams.
Daniel Merriam's work echoes romance. All his creations have a very personal essence derived from his imagination and filtered by culture. His paintings are dreams in splendid colours that allure viewers into a kingdom of imagination where reality and fantasy strike a delightful balance.

Tomek Setowski and Daniel Merriam open with an exclusive presentation of their masterpieces at the Burj Al Arab. The exhibition will then move to the Emirates Towers Boulevard where their colourful creations will entice the public. Along with prominent local patronages, international names like Jumeriah Sirius, American Express and Moet Chandon collaborate on this event.

Daniel Merriam

Regarded as one of the world's foremost watercolorists, Daniel Merriam has captured the hearts and curiosities of collectors worldwide. Born into an artistically inclined family from Maine, USA, Merriam studied mechanical and architectural design at the Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute.
He taught himself to paint at a very young age and used his art as a method of reflective play throughout his childhood. Merriam's paintings are dreams in splendid colours that lure viewers into a realm of imagination where reality and fantasy strike a delightful balance.
Daniel Merriam's work echoes romance and all his creations have a very personal flavour derived from his imagination and filtered by culture. Merriam has to his credit numerous awards and over a hundred exhibitions through the United States and Europe. His prominent works also include several book covers for award winning writers and is also included in the public collections of The Riverside Museum of Art in California, The Gesundheit Institute in Virginia, the Manhattan Club in New York, among others.
